Last week, Evolve Education and In Your Skin attended Day 2 of the ‘Bright Futures‘ conference hosted by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation in Adelaide. This exciting event brought together experts and educators focused on youth safety in the digital age. It was a fantastic opportunity to build strong networks and collaborate with others who share our commitment to keeping young people safe, in both online and offline environments.
The conference highlighted the critical issue of pornography and how it has become mainstream for our youth. We took part in various hands-on workshops throughout the day with industry leaders, where we were able to exchange insights based on our everyday interactions with young people and their online activities.
A significant highlight was our connection with Afra Prodan from the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE) where we learned about her new role as a Human Exploitation Community Officer (HECO). This initiative aims to address an identified gap in delivering targeted education and prevention initiatives with a focus on at-risk and vulnerable areas of the community through assessing real-time operational and intelligence outcomes. This new program provides Evolve and In Your Skin with a unique opportunity to complement the HECO initiative through the development and delivery of bespoke resources, thereby continuing and extending access to essential teaching and learning materials.
This opportunity to collaborate with ACCCE through the HECO initiative would further build our reputation in this space as a trusted and leading trusted source of digital safety and wellbeing education, in both online and offline settings. Our programs address crucial topics such as the focus of Day 2 at this conference, being the impact of mainstream pornography and how that influences critical issues for our youth, such as consent (online and offline) and image-based abuse. By explicably focusing on the interconnected nature of these interactions, Evolve Education and In Your Skin’s holistic programs will help young people navigate the complexities of a ‘modern relationship’.
Attending the ‘Bright Futures’ conference reinforced our commitment to staying at the forefront of digital safety and wellbeing space. We are excited to integrate the latest research and practices into our presentations and workshops, ensuring our content remains impactful and relevant.
We look forward to sharing our new content with as many new schools and their wider communities as possible in the back half of 2024 as we continue to innovate and lead in the digital safety and wellbeing education space.
